She has a voice to break the most unwilling heart and a feeling for words that smashes through cynicism” – The Times UK on Meow Meow

As the centerpiece event of the festival, this event is the epitome of reinvention.

Utilising only the lieder of Schubert and Schumann, esteemed conductor Reinbert de Leeuw has taken the structure of Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire and rendered something of exquisite beauty and emotional profundity.

Featuring the extraordinary international artist Meow Meow (most recently seen in Kurt Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins with Victorian Opera and fresh from the Edinburgh Festival with ACO) the musical landscape will be rendered by an orchestra of Australian National Academy of Music Alumni lead by festival favourite Stefan Cassomenos. This promises to be a spectacle of the highest order.

Reinbert de Leeuw Im wunderschönen Monat Mai (In the lovely month of May) : Three times seven songs after Schumann and Schubert (Semi-staged)
