Welcome to 2026!
Introduction from our Festival Chair

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
John Masefield’s words capture something of the pull of Port Fairy — a place that draws us back again and again, and that many are proud to call home. They also speak to the spirit of the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival, which in October once again invites us to gather in this remarkable setting for a weekend of music, connection and discovery. This year’s program, curated by Monica and Stefan, brings together cherished artists, exciting new voices and music from diverse traditions. It promises the joy of shared listening in the company of others who love music deeply, set against the many pleasures of a weekend here. Port Fairy has recently been recognised as one of Australia’s great festival and events towns, and locals and visitors alike understand why. All are warmly invited to be part of this year’s Festival, and to encourage others to join our festival family. We are deeply grateful for the support of our donors — individual, corporate and philanthropic — as well as our government partners and those who provide in-kind assistance. Their generosity sustains us in every sense. My thanks also go to our artists, production team, administration, volunteers and board members, whose commitment makes the Festival possible. It is a grand endeavour, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved throughout the year and across the Festival weekend. As Masefield’s poem concludes:
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.
That’s how we all feel after the Closing Gala!
