a “great natural ease” (Neue Züricher Zeitung)
Applauded for his “great natural ease” (Neue Zürcher Zeitung), Melbourne-based internationally recognised concert pianist Stefan Cassomenos summons hitherto unidentified reserves of physical stamina and mental concentration to present a fitting Festival tribute to the shared anniversary year of the two composers jointly responsible for the majority of all notes written for and played by pianists worldwide since 1873 – György Ligeti and Sergei Rachmaninoff – interspersed with idyllic yet dynamic still-lifes from French note-painters Emmanuel Chabrier, Lili Boulanger, Olivier Messiaen, and Claude Debussy, immortalising the visceral beauty of their picturesque surroundings.
